History

The North Shannon Motor Yacht Club (NSMYC) was founded in 1983 by a small group of inland waterways enthusiasts who enjoyed nothing more than cruising in company to visit the many unique hostelries and eateries of the upper River Shannon and its lakes, backwaters, tributaries and canals.

Today, the Club's membership still reflects that great love for and patronage of, these wonderful establishments which are an integral part of Ireland's inland waterways and its ever-growing number of users. This mission is symbolised in our Club burgee - a tankard of beer!

What we do

While the majority of members tend to own a boat of some shape or size, the Club also welcomes non-boat owners who frequently 'guest' on the various rallies and/or cruises-in-company held throughout the year.
Naturally, bringing a bottle or two on board, being able to play a musical instrument or possessing a vast repertoire of songs or ‘ditties’ are all decided assets!
And needless to say, post 'closing time' parties on board add a further serious dimension to the enjoyment and ‘craic’ for Club Members.

So if you feel that you too could be a kindred spirit, sharing the same sense of 'joie de vivre', perhaps you should look us up!
