Like all 'bona fide' yacht clubs, the NSMYC elects a Commodore each year to lead us to new frontiers where no yacht club has ever gone before!

A Vice Commodore [aka 'the trainee'] is also elected annually and he/she duly takes up the Commodorial reins the year after successfully completing this primary 'obstacle course'.

Before being elected as Vice Commodore, candidates must display great vocal abilities [singing, reciting et al], an in-depth knowledge of riparian hostelries and of course, a high degree of resilience to alcohol.
